Biology is the study of life and comprises all levels from the molecular to the global. Biology is the study living organisms, their organization and their functions and biology is a large part of the way our environment evolved from simple organisms and is thus intimately part of our environment. Biology is a very broad field, covering the minute workings of chemical machines inside our cells, to broad scale concepts of ecosystems and global climate change. Biologists study subjects which range from intimate details of the human brain, the composition of our genes, and even the functioning of our reproductive system to the building blocks of the simplest organisms on earth which created our oxygen rich atmosphere capable of supporting higher life forms. Without biological processes you and I would not exist, nor the planet as we know it.

Biological systems in contrast to physical are vastly more complex, their function based on small numbers of units (atoms, molecules, cells) that are not at equilibrium. There are no biological laws of nature the way we find them in physics; the first and second law of thermodynamics, Heisenberg’s uncertainty principle, Newton’s law of gravity etc.

The supreme importance of the role of biology in environment can be seen if we consider biotechnology. Biotechnology, as Aldous Huxley foresaw in Brave New World (1932), can usher in as profound a revolution as industrialization did in the early 19th century. It will parallel vast other themes the expansion of artificial intelligence, the opening of the inner solar system to economic use, and much, much more.

Biologists tolerate a level of mystery in their work that would drive your average engineer or computer programmer crazy. Biologists can see that role of biology in environment has shaped our very nature and being. Just look at the human genome studies that have been done. The biologists have put together a complete rough draft of the human genome but they have little understanding of how those 40,000 or so genes work together and interact with our environment to make a human.

Biologists, geneticists, and doctors have had limited success in curing complex diseases such as cancer, HIV, and diabetes because traditional biology generally looks at only a few aspects of an organism at a time. Again, we would suggest that this is due to the role of biology in environment which is so complex that the unraveling of these interactions is only now beginning to be discovered.

Biological processes of course are consequences of physics and chemistry, which is why we require biology students to study the physical sciences. But organisms are also historical entities molded by their environment both physical and social, and that’s where the complexities arise.

Synthetic Biologists build artificial biological systems in an analogous way, using individual components such as single genes and enzymes for which the reactivity and the products formed are accurately known. Synthetic biology will catch up even faster when it appreciates role of biology in environment. Assembly of simple synthetic circuits using DNA fibers has been demonstrated.

Systems Biology is the application of mathematical/physical modeling to understanding the functions of biological processes. It describes a multi-component approach, combining theoretical modeling with real data about the interaction between genes and their products within the environment. Arising from this is the need to interpret large datasets of complex biological information. It seeks to integrate the knowledge derived from the study of individual components of cells to their performance as integral elements of cells, tissues and populations.

So, in summary we are suggesting that the role of biology in environment cannot be ignored at any level, nor could the reverse be true. Throughout evolution environment has influenced the development of biological systems which in their turn have fed back into the environment and changed the environment to the one in which we live today. The role of biology in environment is simply to have made the environment in which we all live our lives.

A company that chooses to implement an international project is obligated to conduct a thorough research in order to understand if such project is viable and can be brought to life in a certain country. Numerous factors have to be taken into consideration and investigated; it has to be done objectively from the point of view of the host country in which business will be performed. Thus the home company can ensure the realization of the project in specified terms with regards to projected profits and spending funds.

While analyzing foreign environment companies have to pay close attention to various factors that will effect, or help if used efficiently, future success of business in a new economy. First of all it is necessary to carefully examine the firm’s competitive position and understand if a project is able to bring profit in the global industry. Adequate financial resources, successful global ventures in the past, risk levels that a company is able to undertake and growing international demand are those few questions that need to posed before a firm can make any projections as to doing business abroad. There are also factors that are directly connected to specific projects and situations and that influence the outcome of the venture and have to be considered.

In case when a company is ready to start international project in terms of its internal situation, it has to study issues and challenges that are caused by macro economical and other environmental factors. Legal and political factors are essential for the implementation of the project abroad and each country has its own laws and regulations that could be of negative or positive influence which greatly depends on the nature of business. Economic condition of the host county is a core issue in deciding where and when project will be carried out and if it is feasible at all. Such environmental issues as GDP, inflation fluctuations and population growth have to be considered in order to comprehend conditions in which business will operate. Infrastructure and geography are among other factors that will affect the project or not allow its execution in case a host county has severe weather conditions or undeveloped infrastructure; for instance unpaved roads and no electrical power can easily fail the project in the very beginning and thus knowing such conditions is necessary. Security of the country in which project will be developed is essential as well, people make things happen and if they are in a dangerous environment it is priory impossible to do business. Workers who are knowledgeable about cultural differences in a host country are more likely to perform successfully as traditions and holidays can play a huge role in certain marketing campaigns and serve for the good image of the company.

Working in a foreign country requires a great deal of preparation and assessment of all possible differences that business is about to encounter. As was already said major role is deciding whether of not the project will be successful is comprehending macro environment of a new country. Studying its economical condition, security levels and infrastructure system is a core competence of a company who wants to be more successful that its competitors. In case when all of those factors are studied and considered advantageous for a new enterprise it is important to bear in mind that cultural differences can make all efforts void. Thus such countries as the United States must attentively analyze what changes have to be made in the business plan and what people are best suit for the its implementation. Often companies hire professionals already experienced in such ventures with foreign education who speak two or more languages. Those intermediaries who are familiar with host country’s traditions and have social connections are great helpers in establishing a good image of the company abroad and in avoiding mistakes in a setting up period.

Selecting and training employees for the international project is very important for the future success of the company. Culture shock and coping with it are issues that have to be addressed to potential workers because people who cannot sleep at night of nervous breakdown are unable to work effectively. Consequently firms need to inform and train employees how to cope with cultural diversities and benefit from them to better manage in the new environment. Multiplicity of the factors that have to be thought through by the international project managers can be outstanding but successful implementation will be rewarded by monetary and personal contentment.

First of all let’s take a look at what a study group is. It’s where you meet on a regular basis with other students who are studying the same subject as you are. Within the study group you can discuss what you understand of the subject, what you don’t understand with the hope that someone else there can explain it to you in a way that you do understand, and also to talk about any class assignments or presentations that may be required as part of the subject.

Study groups meet at a number of different places, and have a varied approach to the format of the group. Some study groups are very informal, perhaps meeting in one of the member’s homes where a supply of snacks and drinks are provided by the student’s parents.

Other groups are more formal and meet in more traditional places such as an empty classroom or school library space that’s designated for group work. The formal study groups are usually run to some kind of agreed schedule with a list — either written or voiced — of items to be covered at each session, whereas informal groups tend to approach their meetings with a more flexible attitude of just chatting about whatever seems relevant at that time in what they’re learning.

There are many advantages to being part of a study group. These include: Increasing your motivation to study as it’s more fun within a group environment where there is no expectation to “perform”.

There’s a supportive environment that provides a place to admit that you don’t understand something without feeling ashamed. You can ask questions of your study group members that you wouldn’t be comfortable enough to ask in front of an entire class.

You get the win-win situation where not only do you get help, but you gain confidence in the subject by being able to answer the questions posed by other members of the group on areas of the subject they don’t understand.

If you missed a class you’ll be able to catch up using both the notes of the other students in your study group, plus the verbal input from the class that they can give you.

When you are involved in group work you won’t feel that you are alone and looking for a group — your study group is a ready made unit that already knows how to work together and recognizes the strengths and weaknesses of each member.

Revision time can become more focused with each member of the group being responsible for a particular area. It can also be less stressful as there won’t be such a feeling of isolation as the group will meet to discuss their revision and to have group discussion on the possible kind of questions to appear on any test along with the possible answers.

A study group needs to be formed with certain agreements in place. These should be discussed and agreed at the first meeting. You should have a schedule of meetings, a place to meeting and what kind of group (formal or informal) you want to be. If all members of the group accept the terms of belonging to the group, you’re all set to go. If there’s some discord then you need to either negotiate on some points, or have 2 study groups form on different formats so that each student is comfortable with the group they belong to.

If there isn’t a study group for a subject that you believe would benefit from one (or more specifically, you would benefit from) investigate the possibility of setting one up and find out what level of interest there would be from the rest of the class. You aren’t looking for a mass sign-up; even 4-6 active members make it a viable group that all should benefit all.

While many students and working adults who plan to further their study may benefit from the advantages of online education, there are online students failed because they can’t adapt to the online learning format. If you are interested in earning your degree online, don’t be part of the failure statistics. Here are 5 tips to help you succeed with your online study:

1. Learn How To Stay On Schedule

The biggest advantage of online learning is the study and assignments are in self-paced format, which you can easily plan to fit into your own schedule. But the problem is the flexibility may cause you to keep delaying your study because you have other important stuffs to focus on. You may not able to complete your study within your planned schedule or even give up the study halfway.

In order to ensure the smooth process of your online study and complete the courses on time, you must learn how to stay on schedule. Of course, to stay on schedule, you must first plan your learning schedule and set your goal of the completion date. Don’t let other stuffs to interrupt your learning, follow what you have planned for. Just in case some important stuffs that cause you behind the schedule, you must try your best to work it out so that you are back on schedule as soon as possible.

2. Communicate With Your Professors Regularly

In online study, you cannot depend on face-to-face communication to get your message across. And there is no professor watch after your back to help you if you face any problem in your study. Hence, make sure you fully utilize the communication technologies such as email, telephone and even instant message to communicate frequently with your professors and get you questions answered.

3. Communicate Effectively Your Online Classmates

In school, classmates are very important to help and motivate each other with their studies. Since you and your online classmates are not meeting face-to-face, you will need to make sure you are staying in touch with your online classmates via email, chat or phone. This is especially important when working on group assignment. You and your group members must be able to communicate effective to make sure the group assignments are complete accordingly and submitted on time.

4. Print Out Your Notes

Although you can read the online learning materials from computer screen, but it’s better to organize them offline into files so that you can review them without having to dig through downloaded files or other course materials.

5. Get A Mentor

If you are a person that frequently falls behind the schedule and always need someone to remind you on the due date of a certain task. Then, you will need a mentor to watch after your back to ensure you smoothly move toward the completion of you study. The mentor can be your spouse, children, parent or your best friend. Let him/her know your learning schedule and your goal to complete the online study, invite him/her to be your mentor to ensure you follow the study plan.

Summary

Not every online student will succeed in their study, you need to adapt to the online learning environment and above useful tips are able to guide you through.
